How to Design a Makerspace

Safety should be built into the design from the outset. Clear walkways, stable furniture, rounded edges, and designated zones for different activities help minimise risk.
Accessibility is equally important. Makerspaces should be designed so all students can participate comfortably, with consideration given to furniture height, circulation space, and adaptable work areas.

Makerspaces thrive on collaboration. Table layouts that encourage face to face interaction, shared surfaces for group work, and spaces for discussion all support teamwork and idea sharing.
